Molly Melhem's White Coat Ceremony

Molly Melhem, along with nineteen other second-year medical students from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, received her white coat on September 26, 2014 at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center.

The white coat ceremony signifies the transition from pre-clinical coursework to an introduction into the medical field.  It is a major milestone in a student’s career and faculty, family and local physicians attended the ceremony.

"The white coat is our personally delivered gift of faith, confidence and compassion,” says Michelle Mariscalco, M.D., FCCM, FAAP, Dean of the College of Medicine Urbana-Champaign, “it is presented as “welcome” to the profession of medicine and an ever-present reminder of the qualities the students must possess as they carry on the noble tradition of doctoring — professionalism and humanism."

Congratulations, Molly!
