Kyle Schachtschneider was awarded a Travel Award by the Animal Epigenetic Workshop to attend the Plant and Animal Genome XXIV Conference, January 9-13, 2016, in San Diego, CA. The award was based on the submitted abstract entitled "The conserved functional role of non-CpG methylation in mammalian and avian brain".

Edward William & Jane Marr Gutgsell Professor

Dr. Schook is Gutgsell Endowed Professor of Animal Sciences. One of fourteen University of Illinois faculty members to receive this honor, Dr. Schook was awarded this endowed professorship in recognition of his high achievement in the area of comparative genomics.

Early Career Scientist Travel Bursary

Kyle Schachtschneider was awarded an Early Career Scientist Travel Bursary by the International Society for Animal Genetics to attend the 34th International Society for Animal Genetics Conference, July 28 - August 1, 2014, in Xi'an, China. The award was based on the submitted abstracts entitled "The International Swine Methylome Consortium (ISMC): Supportnig epigenomics and biomedical research".

Graduate Student Fellowship Award

Arun Kumar De was the recipient of a $1,500 Graduate Student Fellowship Award. He received the 2013-2014 award for his academic performance and exemplary representation of the Department of Animal Sciences and Graduate College at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed journals.
