In collaboration with Geoff Clark at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville, the Schook Laboratory has been awarded an NIH EUREKA award for the development of a transgenic breast cancer model. The NIH EUREKA (Exceptional, Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration) grants are R01 program funds for exceptionally innovative research that will have a substantial impact on the scientific community. The EUREKA targets investigators who are testing novel, unconventional hypotheses or are pursuing major methodological or technical challenges. We have also made a pre-proposal to the Army breast cancer program, which stands as a significant extension of the NIH proposal.
